Meet Yonder Midwifery!

Cara Grigsby, CPM-TN

Hi, I’m Cara Grigsby and I am a Licensed Certified Professional Midwife and the owner of Yonder Midwifery. After years of rigorous didactic and clinical training, I received my certification through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) in 2023. During my training, I had the privilege of working under multiple highly experienced midwives to care for well over 100 families through pregnancy, loss, labor and birth, and the postpartum period.

Prior to midwifery, I served hundreds of families as a birth doula over eleven years of practice. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Sociology with an emphasis on birth and death from Middle Tennessee State University. I also have specialized training through Spinning Babies, Breech Without Borders, DONA International, and have a passion for working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and trauma survivors through their reproductive journey. Being a midwife is not just a job for me. It is a deep passion and one that I do not take lightly, walking with people through what can be the most vulnerable, scary, hopeful, and joyful time of their lives. I hope to bring a sense of peace, safety, and comfort to all of the families that I have the honor of serving.

Outside of birth land, you’ll find me spending time with my three daughters (Olive, Gillian, and Miriam) and pup (Topaz). I love creating beauty (I was a professional artist before midwifery), reading, having dance parties in the kitchen, seeing live music, and catching as many mid-day naps as possible!
